About the artist
He lived and worked in the city for 20 years, designing exhibitions, commercial graphics, store fronts, furniture, as well as signs like the one in this photo. He also began to develop his concept for a new family of modern Hebrew typefaces. This typeface, David Hebrew, would eventually be issued by Intertype Corporation in 1954.
